If you are looking for a character property, this old fully restored mill near Urbino has character in spades.
Due to its original function, the location is secluded, at the bottom of a hill and originally a stream was passing by, so it was easy to collect water and run the mill.
Today the building has been cleverly converted into a holiday home divided into 3 apartments, where tourists can enjoy some relaxing time out in the garden, under the shade of the portico or chilling in the pool.
The original building dates back to the 1800s (maybe earlier) and it was fully restored according to anti-seismic criteria in 2000. The owners have kept many original features, as the stone walls and the wood beams, that give a warm look to the whole property.
The house measures about 380 sq.m. divided into 3 apartments, each one featuring a fully equipped kitchen, bedroom and bathroom and all characterised by the typical antique atmosphere of traditional mills.
The old henhouse has been transformed into a useful storage, where you can keep all your gardening tools. The possibility to convert it into a building for a different use, must be previously checked with local authorities.
The property comprises a 3 hectares arable land with tartufaia (truffle ground).
The spacious garden offers different corners where you can sit down in the shade or have a sunbath near the pool. The swimming pool measures about 4×8 mt. with a bean shape and salt system.
The location of the property is quiet, in the middle of the countryside with beautiful views, but not isolated: it is perfect for those who’d like to rent out the apartments, as tourists will love being in a peaceful environment, yet close to a town (Fermignano) and all services. The bravest may walk to town (3 kms ca.), the others can go by car or by bus, as it stops nearby.
By a touristic point of view, this is quite a convenient area, since from here you can easily get to some of the most interesting spots in northern Marche. One of them is surely Urbino, also known as the cradle of Reinassance, which fully preserves the architectural heritage of the period. The historic centre of Urbino is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Urbania is also not far away, as well as Fossombrone and Acqualagna, famous for its high quality white truffles.
From here, it is very easy to reach and visit also other interesting places: the Tuscan border is just 35 km away, and the border of region Emilia Romagna, where you can explore places like lovely San Leo with its castle is 15 kms. You’ll also have the possibility to “expatriate for one day” since the Republic of San Marino (the independent country inside Italy) is just 50 km away!
And for the mountain lovers, you can’t miss the Passo della Gola del Furlo, where you can go hiking and discover wild nature.
